Debate Continues Over Sports Betting In Connecticut
4th March, 16:48Connecticut Governor Ned Lamont says he supports a plan to allow sports betting for in-state operators.
Lawmakers have been trying to agree on a way to allow sports betting in the state. One version of the bill would open it up to the state's two Native American tribes, off-track betting parlors and the Connecticut Lottery.
Lamont says the bill should be designed to withstand endless legal challenges. The two tribes have faced stiff competition from MGM, who also want access to gambling in Connecticut.
A different bill from State Senator Cathy Osten would give the tribes exclusive access to sports betting. Osten's district includes both of the state's tribal-run casinos.
