Horse racing Gulfstream Park bettor wins over $500K on 50-cent wager
12th April, 15:18A 73-1 longshot kicked off a day of upsets Saturday at Gulfstream Park, resulting in one bettor taking home $524,966.50 from one 50-cent wager.
The unnamed bettor's Early Pick 5 ticket -- which correctly selected the winners of the day's first five races at the Hallandale Beach, Florida, track -- earned the fifth-highest for a Pick 5 in U.S. horse racing history, according to Ed DeRosa of Brisnet.com.
Freddy Soto carried the 73-1 odds in the first race after beating a total of five horses in his previous three races.

In the second race, 34-1 Union Lane pulled off another stunning upset.
Horse racing is one of the few sports still operating during the worldwide coronavirus outbreak, and it is also one of the few remaining options for legal sports betting with all casinos in the country now closed.
