NFL preview: Inside look at betting options in New York region

5th September, 02:29

A look at the in-person and mobile options for sports betting in the New York region:

Monmouth Park

Monmouth Park Racetrack opened the state's first sportsbook after investing millions of dollars to convert a cafeteria into the William Hill Race & Sports Bar. The facility -- split between the bar and the main grandstand -- has 22 betting windows, more than 50 TVs and hundreds of seats, as well as a 75-foot wide, 8-foot tall video board.

The Meadowlands

The closest option to New York City -- four upstate casinos introduced sportsbooks this year, but the state has not yet approved mobile betting -- is located a few punts away from MetLife Stadium. The FanDuel Sportsbook has over 10,000 square feet, three bars and over 100 TVs, with 17 betting windows, three self-serve betting kiosks and a high-limit window. A VIP area has its own betting counter and bar, with couches. If you're traveling without a car, plan on leaving extra time. The 160 bus line from Port Authority Bus Terminal is an option, but NJ Transit trains from Penn Station still only run during major events.

Located in Atlantic City's marina district, the Borgata offers the Race & Sports Book, which is a non-smoking venue, with 10 betting windows and 100 individual seats. New for this season is the 8,000 square foot Moneyline Bar & Book, which features a 35-foot-long bar with built-in slot machines, a full-service food and drink menu, a 40-foot wide by 11½-foot tall video wall, 144 seats, self-betting kiosks, six betting windows and a VIP lounge.

Ocean Casino Resort

This boardwalk hotel, opened on the site of the former Revel casino, built an impressive 7,500-square-foot sports book in the middle of the casino floor, with TVs completely surrounding guests. Partnered with William Hill, the sportsbook also features eight betting windows and two self-serve kiosks, as well as Skybox Suites, which overlook the floor, and are available by reservation.

Resorts Atlantic City

New Jersey's first casino hotel opened the 5,000 square foot DraftKings Sportsbook this year, which includes five betting windows, 18 self-serve kiosks -- open 24 hours -- a 15-foot video wall and VIP seating with food and bottle service.

Golden Nugget

Another marina district hotel, the Golden Nugget has more than 50 TVs on five video walls, more than 100 seats and self-service betting kiosks. Due to casino owner Tilman Fertitta's ownership of the Houston Rockets, the sportsbook has been prohibited from taking NBA bets, but a bill to allow pro basketball action -- excluding the Rockets -- passed the state legislature, and simply needs Gov. Phil Murphy's signature.

One of the newest, and grandest, sportsbooks in the country occupies over 15,000 square feet and has a self-service beer wall, enabling fans to avoid long bar lines. Bally's also sets itself apart with five private Fan Caves -- featuring TVs which can be split into three screens -- which are available by reservation, and hold up to 24 people. The main area has reclining seats, and a 98-foot by 18-foot TV wall.

Owned by Caesars Entertainment -- like Bally's -- Harrah's recently opened sportsbook is 3,800 square feet and features leather, theatre-style seats, along with self-service betting kiosks and two Fan Caves, which hold up to 10 people, and includes table service.

Hard Rock Casino

Opened this spring, the 3,800-square-foot space has five betting windows, 50 seats, 60 TVs and a full-service bar with video poker slots.

The 5,000-square-foot William Hill Sportsbook at Tropicana has 1,654 square feet of video displays with 180 seats, spread between the bar and lounge, as well as a VIP area. The space features four self-betting kiosks as well as eight betting windows and a high-limit window.

Resorts World Catskills

The Sportsbook 360 in Monticello features center bar with 360-degree arc of 35, 75-inch flat screen TVs and seating for 100. Betting kiosks open 24/7.

Rivers Casino

This sportsbook in Schenectady, N.Y., features luxury VIP seating including five private booths. Betting kiosks open 24/7.

Del Lago Resort and Casino

The DraftKings Sportsbook in Waterloo, N.Y., has betting kiosks open 24/7.

Tioga Downs Casino Resort

Located in Nicholas, N.Y., FanDuel Sportsbook features eight betting windows, a large video wall and seating for more than 50.

Also, three Oneida Nation sportsbooks are up and running. The Lounge with Caesars Sports at Turning Stone Resort and Casino, Verona, N.Y. and Point Place Casino, Bridgeport, N.Y. both opened on Aug. 1. They were joined on Wednesday by one of the same name at Yellow Brick Road Casino, in Chenango, N.Y.

The fantasy sports site became the first to fully launch a sports betting app and offers in-game prop betting.
